AGNI-5 COMPLETES DEVELOPMENT TRIALS

First disclosed in 2007, AGNI-5 has now completed all its development trials and has been inducted into service under the Strategic Forces Command(SFC). The 5000 km range missile underwent its 4th trial overall and 2nd canisterised based trial on 26th December, 2016. The missile is said to have hit the target with pin point accuracy within a range of few meters.

The 4th successful test has now paved the way for its user trials to be carried under SFC. In future, AGNI-5 is expected to feature Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicle(MIVR) which will have the capability to carry 2-10 separate nuclear warheads, with each warhead assigned a different target separated by hundreds of kilometers.
